Starting A New Group

Starting a New Group

Absolutely!! You need a plan, and this sets you on the right path, fast. Define goals, set focus, establish conflict avoiding habits, share the loads. Focus on the fun stuff because the tough conversations will be behind you.

Changing Leadership

Changing Leadership

Sometimes, established groups get tripped up. Bad meetings or meeting dynamics, leads to a loss of members. The group – and its great intention – begins to fade. Learn how to work through all of it and get back on track to the part where everyone looks forward to being involved again.
Volunteers

Volunteer, Elected or Appointed: Does it Matter?

Not at all. No matter how you joined table, you chose to contribute to your community. You are a solution finder and a change maker. It is time your group remembers its purpose, cultures good decision making, and refines how it communicates within itself and beyond. Not everything has to be hard. It is time to build towards success (while embracing each other’s perspective).

Working Through Conflict

Working Through Conflict

One or two members monopolizing every conversation or carrying the whole load? It is time to sift through the un-fun stuff and get on track. Moving through the modules, your group will remember the things that matter most, will learn how to include everyone’s voice and share the loads evenly That sounds much better, right?

One day it occured to me...

I could change the world!

I could change the world by helping one community group at a time get better at doing what they do.

And so it began. Welcome to...

IGNITE THE ENGAGED!

SHAUNA STANLEY SEYMOUR, PS GOV.

FOUNDER AND CEO IGNITE THE ENGAGED CONSULTING LTD.

Educated in Journalism and Public Relations, Shauna spent 20 years as a project lead and facilitator in the quantitative and qualitative research industry. Later, roles in community coordination, mentorship and marketing caught her attention. After achieving Public Sector Governance Certification from the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy, it was time to return to her passion: building effective volunteers.

Throughout her life she has been an active volunteer: she has flipped burgers, knocked doors, sold tickets, made phone calls, served on executive boards, mopped floors, planned major events, led campaigns, solicited sponsors, participated in park design (more than once), chaired fundraisers, managed budgets, created posters, emceed events, encouraged stewardship, wrote grant applications and recruited other volunteers at church, in politics, for community groups, at schools and within sports teams.

In her volunteer life she has built lifelong friendships, inspired projects and achieved goals all while reminding everyone that snacks and a bit of fun go a long way in making any meeting much, much better.
Shauna and her husband also farm in Saskatchewan, Canada with her parents and the rescue pup, Hunter Rose.
